The Virtual Field Hospital (VFH) is a home-based telemedicine solution for epidemic disease response, combining remote patient monitoring and home diagnostics with sophisticated analytics and disease management protocols. The VFH platform can be customized for use with multiple epidemic diseases, including Influenza, MERS, and Covid-19.
The VFH is based on “Rooms-in-a-Box” (RiB), modular building-blocks of a system capable of delivering care at population scale, at a fraction of the cost of traditional hospital based surge programs. Each virtual RiB is ready to use, containing complete connectivity, protective and diagnostic equipment, patient monitoring, and medications.
The VFH is based on technology developed and tested in Sweden for home hospital use, and is fully GDPR and HIPAA compliant.
Essential vital sign monitoring includes:
- Heart Rate
- Oxygen Saturation
- Temperature
Stocked with core medications and supplies
- Analgesics and antipyretics for symptom control
- Other medications based on national protocols
- Protective equipment for family members and caregivers (including gloves and N-95 or FFP2/3 respirators)
Compared to traditional medical disaster response, the VFH is
- Quicker to deploy
- Less expensive
- Minimizes the risk of hospital-based disease transmission
